Cloud Shadow Fieldworks is a small, woman owned business located in Baker City, Oregon. While we primarily work in eastern Oregon, we have experience in central Oregon, eastern Washington, and Nevada. We can assist private landowners, agencies, and local organizations with cultural resource guidance.

Cloud Shadow Fieldworks was created in 2026 by professional archaeologist Megan McGuinness (MA, RPA). While the company size is small, our size comes with greater detail, lower overhead costs, and building longer lasting relationships.

The company was built with the idea that archaeologists are first anthropologists. Anthropology is the study of human beings and includes all aspects of what it means to be human. Archaeology is what we find out about people of the past through the materials they leave behind. Materials help inform archaeologists of past human behavior, and in turn, helps us understand whether an archaeological site is important in relation to the county, state, or country.

At Cloud Shadow Fieldworks, people always come first, whether they lived thousands of years ago, or they’re a client reaching out for their initial consultation.

When I am not working, I enjoy long walks around relict lake shores in the Great Basin, snowboarding, philosophical talks and gardening with my partner, and watching my dog Howdy run wild in the sagebrush.
